UAV Protect COO, James Gadbury, spoke at the Lloyd's Switzerland event in Basle on 14th October.
The event provided a discussion on the latest trends in emerging risks and the insurance implications of technologies such as cyber, UAVs and autonomous vehicles. Other guests included Graham West, Lloyd's General Representative for Switzerland, Benno Reischel, Lloyd's Head of Europe, Tom Allen, Head of Technology, Liability & Data Protection Indemnity, Aspen Insurance, David Powell, Manager, Non-Marine, Lloyd’s Market Association, and Nick Beecroft, Lloyd’s Manager, Emerging Risk and Research. There were some interesting and thought provoking discussions on what the future holds and the potential exposures and opportunities for insurers with these evolving risks.
Tony Gee from Pen Test Partners gave a brilliant presentation on the inter-connectivity of various applications and the ease with which systems can be hacked, culminating Tony taking over a toy doll and getting it to say various phrases.
Patrick Thevoz from Flyability stole the show with an indoors demonstration of the Flyability gimball drone which is designed for search and rescue missions and inspections.
